ACCORDING TO GANI ADAMS, THE PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM FOSTERS CORRUPTION.

Yesterday, Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba, Gani Adams, voiced support for the return to a parliamentary system of government, arguing that the current presidential system is overly costly and facilitates corruption across all government sectors. Additionally, Adams, who serves as the Chief Promoter of the Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF), expressed concern over the nation's security challenges, highlighting the continuous menace of banditry and kidnapping. Addressing reporters at the 12th edition of the Eledumare Festival in Lagos, Gani Adams, represented by Asoju Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Yinka Oguntimehin, advocated for a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria's current structure. He argued that the present system is insufficient to propel the nation forward. Adams emphasized the need for a transition to a parliamentary system of government, advocating for regional autonomy to promote prosperity. Expressing his views, Adams stated, "As we celebrate the Eledumare festival, I also make a case for a complete overhaul of the structure of this country. I make a case for a parliamentary system of government, where the region will be allowed to function and prosper accordingly." He highlighted the myriad challenges facing Nigeria, ranging from economic and political issues to pervasive security concerns. Adams lamented the recent tragic incident in Delta State where 16 soldiers were brutally murdered, underscoring the alarming rise in banditry and kidnapping. Adams criticized the current system as prohibitively expensive and conducive to corruption across all government sectors. He stressed the urgent need for restructuring along regional lines to chart a path toward a prosperous and secure future for Nigeria. Looking ahead, Adams expressed hope that future iterations of the Eledumare festival and other annual celebrations would continue to attract more participants, fostering spiritual blessings and providing opportunities for seeking divine favor. In conclusion, Adams urged for a reimagining of Nigeria's governance structure to address its pressing challenges and unlock its potential for growth and prosperity.
