Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, upon assuming office, promptly imposed temporary constraints on all government accounts, a decision driven by the imperative to safeguard state assets and enforce fiscal accountability. This decisive action proved instrumental in preserving substantial funds, thereby liberating vital resources for the benefit of the people of Benue. The civil service and citizens' unwavering understanding and support were pivotal during this period. Having successfully achieved the predefined objectives, the Governor recently directed the Ministry of Finance to initiate measures aimed at lifting all imposed restrictions on accounts. This process is underway and will be expedited to its conclusion. The Ministry of Finance commits to providing timely updates on this endeavor, as well as other pertinent matters such as fiscal responsibility, public procurement, and financial transparency. Furthermore, in a significant stride towards addressing socio-economic concerns, Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has established a committee tasked with reassessing the minimum wage and presenting recommendations. Led by the Secretary to the State Government and comprising key officials from various government agencies, the committee has convened its inaugural session and is set to collaborate closely with organized labor. Acknowledging the prevailing economic hardships nationwide, the government of Benue State pledges its utmost commitment to alleviating the burdens faced by its populace during these challenging times.
