The documents that Emefiele presented to request a $6.2 million payment for observers were found to be forged, as shared by a forensic analyst in court.
In the ongoing trial of ex-Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele, new developments emerged during the Thursday session in front of Justice Hamza Muazu at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja. A forensic analyst verified that the papers submitted to authorize the $6.2 million payment for foreign election observers were found to be fraudulent.
The witness presented by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Bamaiyi Meriga, explained to the court that upon examining the questioned documents forensically, he found distinct signs of signature forgery and discrepancies in the seal of execution compared to the genuine ones.
